"My most recent analysis ... reveals a striking trend: A generation of conservative young priests is on the rise in the U.S. Church." - Fr. Andrew Greeley, in the article, "Young Fogeys", from The Atlantic Magazine. January, 2004.

Abp. Sheen on What's My Line
Thanks to Tom Peters at American Papist for discovering this:
Watch the last 2 or 3 seconds, when Miss Kilgallen (on the far left of the panel) actually kisses his ring as he greets her. The days are gone when celebrities saw themselves as "Catholics" first, and "famous" second.
And gone are the days when a bishop would be invited on a popular television program and be treated not only with respect but be treated as an even bigger celebrity than anyone on the show. Gone, too, are the days when anyone working in religion would be considered "non-profit" by the American public. I doubt very seriously that on a program such as this today they would see to it that the bishop won all the money possible and added the promise "to add to it". It seems that it is also a thing of the past that celebrities from the media and entertainment world would even be able to name any bishop in the US (even a famous one) let alone guess who he is blindfolded!
This is certainly a blast from the PAST in so many ways!

back when we identified ourselves as Catholics first. I pray that we recover our identity in the public square
