A broken wrist = Conclave?

Yes, the Holy Father slipped and has a small break in the polso (I know it's the wrist, but I like the Italian word better; it sounds like "pulse"). Can't you just hear an Italian doctor saying, "Ayyy, you brok-a the polsa", whilst smoking a cigarette, talking on his cellphone, and eyeing the nurses?

But the New York Times has taken the Pope's fall while on vacation to remind us that the Pope "appeared tired in some of his public appearances", as well as the fact that he may have suffered some slight strokes more than a decade ago.

Nice try. We all know why he went to the hospital: Jell-o. He loves the Jell-o.

What was admirable - and somewhat overlooked in the linked news article and Reuters video report -- was that the Holy Father CELEBRATED MASS and ate breakfast before allowing his companions to take him to the hospital. Even when someone is trying to diminish the Holy Father - his real strength and character comes shining through!

Green jello. In cubes. With a spray of Reddi-wip.

A fall for a man of that age could have been much more serious.

At his age a fall is a bad thing. The older you get the more fragile your bones become. Some people never recover.

The Lord will provide - and I have no doubt that he will provide his Holiness with good health and sound mind until he is at least a centenarian.

Ad multos annos!

I love your Italian doctor. That was a great visual. I am still laughing.
