"My most recent analysis ... reveals a striking trend: A generation of conservative young priests is on the rise in the U.S. Church." - Fr. Andrew Greeley, in the article, "Young Fogeys", from The Atlantic Magazine. January, 2004.
I know you have made several appearances on EWTN and celebrated Mass at the Chapel there. I was very surprised this morning when I watched Sunday Mass to see none of the statues or Crucifix covered in purple. Am I wrong to assume that the Chapel we see on TV is basically a TV studio and that's why nothing was covered in purple?
Good question. It is NOT a TV studio. Remember that Irondale was the original site of the Poor Clare Monastery, and that chapel was their monastery chapel. Yes, there are TV cameras in the chapel, but they are up high and quiet. The cameras are robotic, and so there are no "cameramen", so to speak. There is a control room down the hall.
As for why no statues were veiled, I have no idea. I'm in New Jersey, they're in Alabama.
