Quote of the day

From the first reading at Mass this morning:

Joseph says to his brothers, "It was really for the sake of saving lives that God sent me here ahead of you."

Ambushed by his brothers, sold into slavery, imprisoned, his father thinks he's dead, and he sees the bigger picture.

What has God taken away in your life to give you more than you had before?

In a sense, in my own life at least, it seems that God deplores a vacuum - he never takes anything away without giving something in return. He is not wasteful - nothing is wasted in God's economy. He continues to be a Creator, using the "bad stuff" to make something far better.
