"My most recent analysis ... reveals a striking trend: A generation of conservative young priests is on the rise in the U.S. Church." - Fr. Andrew Greeley, in the article, "Young Fogeys", from The Atlantic Magazine. January, 2004.

Desme to Padres, with a chance for Cardinals
Click here for the story buzzing around baseball about the Oakland A's Grant Desme, who is leaving professional baseball to study for the Priesthood.
PS - WARNING - I am not responsible for any damage done by yourself to your computer or any other furniture, should you choose to read the comments that some people have left.
Father Jay - after your warning, I HAD to go read some of the comments left on the blog. While some were pretty funny ("Just shows some guys would rather live a life of poverty than play for the A's") what I found most interesting was the contrast between the pro and con comments. The positive comments were made in a peace-filled fashion, wishing Grant well and promising to pray for him. The negative comments were filled with bitterness and bile. It seems that the billboard was right: "No God, no peace. Know God, know peace." I too wish Grant well and will pray for him - and point out that CitiField would be the perfect spot for a weekly Rosary group..............
Well... my nephew is 11 and always says he'd consider becoming a priest if his plans for becoming a pro football or baseball player don't work out... so this is a great article to show him... lol... thanks for posting it!
