The poor man looked exhausted and shaken. He usually stops to pray after confessions but this day he prayed longer than usual. God bless our priests. They get to hear some really horrible stuff in the confessional.Dymphnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01469622835449220113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34483860.post-62481560678647777152007-08-11T00:43:00.000-04:002007-08-11T00:43:00.000-04:00St John Vianney and St. Padre Pio are my two favou...St John Vianney and St. Padre Pio are my two favourite saints. I love the humility and poverty of the Cure of Ars. He is the ideal choice to be patron saint of parish priests. What a role model!paramedicgirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17524363951843887071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34483860.post-60247492715816430772007-08-05T17:27:00.000-04:002007-08-05T17:27:00.000-04:00A more subtle detail of 16/18 hours in the confess...A more subtle detail of 16/18 hours in the confessional is his ability to actually DO that.

I am no priest, but many of my priest friends have told me that an hour or two in the confessional is a true challenge. Even the most pious old vets I know have told me that a few hours "wipe them out". One priest I knew confided in me that after an hour or two in the confessional, re regular blocks off some time to take a nap. It ain't easy.

That this saint could be in there for so long? That is a true testament to abundant graces given to him!A Simple Sinnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06710927638399318664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34483860.post-40143004424557862452007-08-05T14:33:00.000-04:002007-08-05T14:33:00.000-04:00Of course his one potato a day diet resulted in se...Of course his one potato a day diet resulted in severe malnutrition resulting in some of his teeth falling out.

One of my favorite stories about him is when to quell inappropriate dancing in his village he placed a sign on his John the Baptist statue that said "He too lost his head over a dance"

Fr.
