Word came late last week about the death of Cardinal Dulles, one of the true giants of American theologians.Back in September of 2005, I interviewed His Eminence for my diocese's radio show. We spoke about a book he had written on then history of apologetics. If you'd like to hear the interview, click HERE.
Thank you for this, Fr. Jay.
ReplyDeleteI had the honor of meeting His Eminence quite by accident about 25 years ago. At the time I was a Marine stationed at Quantico, and I was a pall bearer at a funeral for a retired General officer that was held at St. Matthew's Cathedral. He was one of 4 or 5 priests who were present as celebrants.
I didn't know who he was then; all I remember is that he was a very nice, kind, elderly priest who was extremely eloquent. And he had a really warm spot in his heart for Marines - I suspect from his time in the Navy during the second world war.
May he rest in peace.
